Tying notes
Tie the back end first...I tied this tail in 3 parts; 1st, woolly bugger marabou stripped off the stem and tied to the hook, 2nd flashabou tied on top, then another piece of woolly bugger marabou tied on the very top. Traditionally it is tied with a hackle feather and wire like a woolly bugger; I subbed a 1/2" streamer brush for the hackle tied in just before the tail, then made a dubbing loop of FM peacock flash dub wrapped forward to near the hook eye. Palmer the streamer brush like a hackle forward and tie off. Tie in two legs each side near the eye, then whip finish. Add a length of 30 lb test Fireline braid to the hook eye, add two glass beads and remove from the vise.
Place the shank into the vise, then tie on the dumbbell eyes a couple eye lengths back from the eye to the bottom of the shank. Tie on the Fireline from the back end/hook to the shank, with the beads just behind the end of the shank...secure with many wraps, doubling over the Fireline and then glue. Tie another streamer brush for the hackle, then another dubbing loop of peacock flash dub like the back end, but only come toward the eye about 2/3 the way up (to leave room for the marabou and tarantula brush). Take two black marabou feathers and tie in by the tip; palmer forward two or three wraps (depending how thick the marabou is), leaving some room before the eyes. Tie in the tarantula brush and wrap at least two full wraps behind the eye, then around the eyes two times, then at least two or three wraps in front of the eyes...whip finish (I did two 5 wrap whip finishes)
