Tying notes
Use your favorite medium-angled jig hook. Size hook relative to target species and vary eye size for preferred depth. I like SF blend for the main materials but any synthetic will work. I also use simiseal dubbing for the red throat instead of brush because why not? I don't tie these exactly like Steve does in the video; I'll fold over the belly section behind the eyes instead of in front of the eyes and I add flat braid or even small polar chenille over the belly/flash section. I also loop the mid-wing under/in front of the eyes to ensure an even split of materials on either side of the hook.
References & Credits
Steve Adachi’s legendary SF Bay striper pattern has caught countless fish. I’ve used it in SF Bay for stripers, PNW/BC for salmon and downsized for SRC, and Baja for roosters and other tropical fish.
