Clarkman's smallmouth money maker

Description

I'm sure that the platform of this has been used on many patterns 1000 times over. Basically, it's a jerk bait....that flat out works for me on my waters. This will walk the dog with the best of them!

Tying Process

Nothing special, I'm fairly sure that if you just take a closer look at the pics, you'll be able to deduce how things go together. Although, I will add. For fishability and action, you can leave the dubbing used for the head the length it comes (~4"), but I've found that you definitely spend more time undoing tangles around the hook bend. I end up blending whatever colors/materials that I want, then I cut directly in half. After that, I blend again (all blending is done by hand) so that there are minimal 'square' ends....ultimately, it'll foul way less. The hooks size I like with these, whether it's the Kona or Ahrex TP610, is a size 1/0 for smallmouth. Also, eyes: I do 4 of the XS bead chain eyes in matte black. These do two things, add a little bit of counter-balance to help the fly keel properly & with the 4, there is a definite subtle rattle there....dunno if that matters? but it might...
