Dry Montana Stone

Description

This dry fly is tied with the same colors as its famous wet fly version. I had noticed some larger black stoneflies in the YNP area and decided to tie a black stone fly similar to the same size. I was actually shocked when I found it worked quite well on the Lamar in the park.

Materials

• Body: Black poly yarn or similar synthetic yarn
• Hackle: Grizzly dry fly quality
• Tail: Coastal deer hair dyed black
• Thorax: Yellow poly yarn or similar
• Thread: Black
• Wing: Coastal deer hair dyed black

Hooks

• Tiemco TMC 5212 or similar sizes 8-10
