Clarence Gordon originated this pattern while he was working as a guide at North Umpqua's Steamboat Lodge. This fly has since been used successfully from Alaska to California

- Body: dubbed with black lamb's wool
- Body: dubbed with red lamb's wool; the front two-thirds
- Hackle: Black
- Ribbing: Oval gold tinsel
- Thread: Black
- Tip: Oval gold tinsel
- Wing: Black squirrel tail
