The Grinch — Kory's Grinch

By Kory Kober, Columbus, Montana 2012, submitted by Mike Cline.
Description
The Grinch streamer pattern was created by Montana outfitter and guide, Kory Kober, around 2012. Kory owned a fly shop in Columbus, Montana known as the Otter’s Den. The Grinch is tied within an Olive color scheme using Red flashabou along the sides of the tail. The tail is a little different from other Bugger patterns with the use of flared deer hair within the center of the tail. The placement of the deer hair allows the marabou to flow without binding upon itself. The Red/Olive Speckled Chenille is a primary element to this fly pattern as the specks of red within the body compliment the Red Flashabou around the tail for a good trigger mechanism. It is a very productive pattern in the lower Yellowstone River and associated tributaries,
Tying Process
The chenille most often used is Cascade Crest New Age Chenille --Medium Red's Olive.
