Description

I have caught carp on Chase Smith's Articulated Damsel in Olive when damsels are active. I wanted something between that and a Clouser's Swimming Nymph for when the damsels are brown or when hex or calibaetis are poppin. Shoutout to Chase and Bob for creating such cools flies.

Tying Process

Brown 2mm sheet foam on top of brown, very webby, hen saddle Shank is brighter brown marabou and brown foam wrapped on a #10 Mustad 94840 dry fly hook with hook bend cut off. Essentially a home-grown wiggle shank. That shank is attached using a loop of 8# Maxima Chameleon, that I never use. This allows the tail to float up when the fly is sitting on the bottom. Great action when stripped as well. Trim the hen saddle so the fly sits flat. And slap some Zap a Gap on the foam for appearance and to toughen it up.

• Body: Brown 2mm sheet foam
• Body: Light brown rabbit for body
• Hackle: brown hen saddle
• Head: 3.8mm black bead chain eyes
• Head: Brown 2mm sheet foam
• Shank: Brighter brown marabou and brown foam wrapped on a #10 Mustad 94840 dry fly hook,bend cut off.
• Tag/Tail: brown marabou

• Fulling Mill Bonio Carp hook (FM25 00)
