Prom Queen Salmon Fly — Salmon Fly Adult
By Walter Wiese, Parks' Fly Shop, Gardiner, Montana 2006, submitted by Mike Cline.
Description
The "Prom Queen" was developed in 2006 by Walter Wiese while he was the head guide at Parks' Fly Shop in Gardiner, Montana to replicate large salmon flies that hatched in June/July along the Gardiner and Yellowstone Rivers. Walter named the fly "Prom Queen" because "the fly is good looking, popular and easier than you would think".
Tying Process
Golden Stones can be replicated by downsizing the hook and using yellow and dark brown yarn for the furled body and black thread.
